E-Fax Broken Web Site / Broken Fax System

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

As a long time user of e-Fax I can't express how disappointing it is to have to write a negative review, but based on their performance over the past year I can no longer hold back as they seem to have multiple systems that are broken, and they only want to blame others for their failures.

As an accountant I'm required to send faxes to the IRS in order to represent clients. This requirement for a working fax is immediate as the representative and the accountant are on the phone LIVE, and awaiting the fax to confirm authenticity of the request and authorization of the limited power of attorney.

For the last year, e-Fax has been unable to deliver faxes in a timely manner, and today it took 43 minutes and 52 minutes respectively for two separate faxes to be received by the IRS and for me to receive a confirmation. (By then, the IRS representative had to hang up. By the way the faxes were sent via a fax machine on a third phone call to the IRS, and the fax went right through with no delay what-so-ever, so it seems very likely that the e-Fax system was causing the issue.

This failure of e-Fax to send faxes in a timely manner is a breach of contract as that's the only reason I pay them a hefty fee on a yearly basis.

Not only are faxes not going through, but the cancellation feature is NOT working on their website. When you click on cancel my account, you get a pop up to contact customer service. Not only that, but once they have your credit card there is no way to delete it or change it as their system locks you out of your account information.

This company is on the *** of becoming a SCAM..., I highly recommend that you find another company if you're looking for a reliable online fax provider, I know that I will be searching for another provider starting today!

Unethical Billing Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
eFax - Unethical Billing Practices

Rip-off - no cancel allowed online without going through an agent, no billing notice, no cancel processing, and no refunds for future periods. Just cancelled with eFax, a Consensus Cloud Computing brand.

Service works ok when needed; I haven't used in almost 2 years. Last December the renewal increased to $50/year minimum, so in January when I got credit card bill I cancelled online. then, I was looking at my CC account online yesterday, I saw that another $50 charge came through for 12/10/21-12/9/22. I went to efax site, logged in, saw it was active, hit "cancel" button and the web response was "this account may not be cancelled online, you must either call or start live chat."

I initiated a chat.

After back and forth on what I wanted (cancel and refund of recent charge), the agent asked me to provide proof that I had cancelled last year. Without this, they would not credit the $50 or even $48 for remaining 50 weeks. I searched my email, nothing from eFax in over a year. No cancel notice from last year, no billing notices in any of recent years.

I mentioned I would put dispute on CC charge on my account, and post unfavorable reviews online and with Consumer Agencies - it didn't matter. Over the last 3 years, the account that I signed up for a free trial (at the time $15/year) has cost me $115 and I have sent two faxes of a couple pages each, last in 2020. Even now, I have no confirmation email, but I made sure to save the chat record. Consumers shouldn't have to worry about things like this, but I fully expect a charge next year from this unethical outfit.

It's a shame, as the product itself, while overpriced for me, works fine.

I wonder how they stay in business if they need to bilk the consumer this way. Stay Clear!!!!!

Sketchy billing policies

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Stopped using the service 2.5 years ago. Continued billing with no email receipt. Had to find it in credit card billing. Stopped service after recent annual charge. Service was cancelled immediately with no pro-rated credit (should have been for the whole 12 months). Explicitly told that no credit would be issued for unused period. No on-line cancellation. Had to use chat service, which took way too much of my time (about 15 minutes).

Poor Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've been trying to get a number ported over for months now. I've emailed multiple times and rarely get a response. When I do, the response is completely useless. Their sales team is completely non-responsive, and the porting team is an utter failure. I do believe this is the worst customer service experience I've ever had. It's a shame because it initially seemed very promising and is recommended on a lot of the "best online fax" lists. I cannot rate this company low enough.

I really give it no stars as they are horrible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I really give it no stars as they are horrible. This company lied about their policies on cancelling and have very bad service, capabilities and customer service. Stay away is my recommendation as there are many more honest companies around to provide. Just be careful as they lurk behind many names. Anything J2Global is bad would be my guess. They told me if I cancelled I could still use the service as I paid until a date and all the information would be retained...that was a lie. Do not trust this company on any level and certainly with your credit card. I have cancelled the associated card number and requested a new one for my protection. A very, very, bad company.

Security Breach

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I signed up for eFax today and upon logging in, I saw faxes from previous owners. It is a HUGE security breach. Their faxes had subjects like loan information, bank information which would contain their address, social security, balance, etc. I can't trust this company and went ahead and cancelled my account. If I can see someone else's faxes, someone else can see your faxes. Stay away from this company. When I called the customer service, I was redirected three times and the guy on the other side said it's a "software glitch". Software glitch doesn't show faxes from 2016. This is been broken since then. This is a security issue and possible legal issue.

Predatory and Unethical

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Yes, their business practices are predatory and unethical! When you sign up for a free trial, they make you enter your credit card information and then will charge it without you knowing. They will not refund your money, even if you cancel the service. They make it incredibly difficult to cancel your service, and even then you have no guarantee they will actually do it. Also, the service is terrible and I get a bunch of junk faxes. They have probably sold my fax number to spammers, because it's a new number, and there is no reason why I should be getting all this spam.

THIS IS TERRIBLE.

We need a supervisor in customer service (in the eFax department) to contact us immediately. For over one year we have been getting frequent incessant calls on both our numbers. This is a business. This is unacceptable. We have put in many calls to customer service to not only figure out the nature of the calls, but to rectify the issue- to no avail. When I say frequent I mean quite literally all day back to back on both lines, sometimes with only mere minutes of peace before it ultimately starts up again. We can not operate business when these calls are incessantly blocking our lines up not to mention the time and money it takes for our paid employees to deal with stopping this instead of doing their job. The first encounter with a cs rep was very helpful and the man informed me that it is not an issue of our account, as we don't have one. But that it is one of their consumers using their eFax plan to fax what they think is a fax line- both of our land line numbers. He said not to worry, he can put our numbers on a black list which meant that no matter if the person was using the services it would physically not come thru. We wouldn't get any calls on our end, and they would get an error on theirs. He said eventually the person/s would figure out and would likely stop faxing anyway so it would taper off naturally. I have called in to customer service on an almost daily basis ever since then to get my number black listed. Clearly the "back list" isn't working. Each time I am assured its going to be handled and each time I am prevented from speaking to a manager. Today, I speak to "Edgar" and am all but blamed for this situation/lying as "he can't do anything without an account number" which he talked down to me for not having (we dont have an account at all and thus no number) and "there is no black list" . He even went as far as to RUDELY ask me how that would even exist. HOW DOES THAT EXIST????? YOUR PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THEY'RE DOING THIS EVERYTIME I HAVE CALLED IN. Don't tell me it doesnt exist and that I am making it up when it's your team offering it. Unless of course I have been lied to on EVERY SINGLE call for over 6 months. This needs to be handled now. It is not even in the realm of possibility that you can not. This is a service YOU offer and there has to be an override. You need to handle your service and get our numbers blocked promptly and permanently. This is not our problem, it is yours and it needs to be fixed now.

This company sucks

It's too late for me but it's not too late for you! Customer service here is impossible. Be prepared to spend at least an hour on the phone trying to resolve any issue (including payment due) that you might have. I have called to make changes to my account and spoke to the first agent who could not help me. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred to another agent who upon inquiry was not a supervisor. After giving all of my information again, I was told I was being transferred to a supervisor. After reaching that person I had to give my information again only find I wasn't speaking to a supervisor. These guys have hot-potatoed me for over 45-minutes. Every time I tell the issue I'm told that they cannot assist, the fee cannot be waived and they will transfer me to a supervisor. All this to avoid a $10 charge that they want to put on my account in case of overages. (Oh, and, they will charge your card willy-nilly -- if at all possible, DO NOT let them place your card on file -- otherwise you'll be calling in a lot more frequently than necessary.

They will keep charging you after you try to cancel service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We tried various methods to cancel our service by emailing and calling them (only to be left on long hold times). After numerous emails sent, they finally responded saying that we have to call a number to cancel. We sat on hold for 15 minutes before finally getting to the person to cancel service. We paid three extra months because they refused to cancel our service. We will not recommend this company to anyone, ever. There should be regulations in place to prevent these companies from continuing to steal money from customers. We will be filing a complaint with the FTC and FCC because of the methods efax uses to keep billing customers.
